my brother had one of these and told me yesterday that the unit stopped working well it worked but it doesnt pick up the satalites anymore and that his bro-inlaw along with a couple of others and a friend of mine are all having the same issue.

Just wondering if anyone here has had any problems.. apparently its only the H20 with a certain dateon them that are doing this.

I will try and find out more info on my brotheres H20 to see if he knows anything else about it.

Elwood my unit is approx 6 years old and I sent it in numerous times to get it to work correctly under warranty. Every time I got it back it worked for a short while and started to do it again.

They finally got sick of me whining and sent me a new unit 3 years ago and it has not missed a beat since.

I have replaced numerous power cords but the main unit is working great.

I suppose now thast I said how good it has been it will quit.

They have had problems with the antenna going out, they don't make em anymore so you pay a flat fee of like $120 or somewhere around there send it in and hope they can fix it. My H2O has been good so far, but I might get a new unit before it [PoorWordUsage] the bed.

Mine crapped out in the same way too. I upgraded software, hard and soft resets, did the leave it outside all night thing, even an external antenna..

Got it to work briefly once after the long initialization outside, then it quit again.

Looked into getting a new unit, but nothing I could find would take the older Lakemaster chips. I called Lakemaster to see if there was a swapout program - nope.

I was left with 4 options:

1.) Go without. Not the way I fish. It's a real time saver.

2.) Buy a new GPS and chips, for an outlay of about 4 hundred shims. If I had the money now, I'd do that...but I don't.

3.) Buy a used unit off HSO-Classifieds. Most of them seem to go for dang near what I paid for mine new, and there is no assurance it would not be a clunker.

4.) Send my unit into Lowrance for the flat fee fix for $162 and hope it works.

I went with option 4.

We'll see what happens when the unit comes back

My H20C quit working on me New Years Eve after 5 years of good use. I run the Lakemaster chip in the unit. I tried leaving the unit outside for about 5 hours and nothing. I let the unit sit on my truck dash to and from work (25 miles each way) for 3 days. Still nothing. I started digging around online and I found the soft reset of the machine. I tried this and it worked! I have used the unit a couple times now and it locks on in seconds!

To try the soft reset I was told to take out the Lakemaster chip. Turn the unit off. Press and hold the pages key. Press and hold the power key. Release both buttons whenthe status page appears.

After I tried this, the unit starting reading satelites and locked on within minutes. I reinstalled the Lakemaster chip and walaa! Might be worth a try for anyone else battling this .

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
