Transducer on MinnKota Powerdrive?

Anyone sucessfully install a transducer on a MinnKota Powerdrive, the model does not have the built in transducer?

I have the kit but not sure how to install it without ending up with problems on the water later.

Should I just install a regular transducer on the stern for my bow mount Vexilar?

I'm headed to Rainy next week and would like to get it installed but won't have a chance to get it out on the water before Rainy. Any help would be appreciated.

Prior Laker, There is no "good" way to do it. I sat in the garage one night and scratched the head for a long time trying to come up with a good method. A buddie of mine did it, but it looks extremely sloppy with loose wires hanging all over the place. Maybe it's just me being anal. If anyone can come up with something I would be all ears. Next time I will surely buy the motor with the built in transducer.

laker. what we do is mount the transducer like normal. but you have to be carefull when fastening the cable to the shaft. you will need to always place the motor in the cradle the same way so as not to rub or tear the cable. you need to decide how deep you will have the motor in its' mount. then tape the cable up to a four to six inches below the bracket. leave a loop( to allow for the motor rotation) and then fasten it a few inches above the bracket. i have also attcached the cable to the cord that goes down to the motor. either way, you will have some slack, but not real bad. then just tape the cable along the power cord to your unit. hope this helps. del

Here is what works for me.
Attach the transducer. At the top of the motor where the post enters is a small fin. Drill a hole thru the fin and run a plastic cable tie thru the hole and secure the transducer cable at that point. That will keep the cable out of the prop. Then run the cable thru the release handle and up thru the coiled motor cable. I don't use any tape. When you deploy the motor just pull enough cable loose to allow the motor to lower, then pull in any slack. The cable will stay in place.When you pull the motor up, simply pull in the slack cable.
