Normal indicators that belts are worn out is severe cracking or they are making noise. Newer belts are made with materials that don't show signs of cracking and need to be measured with a gauge to determine whether or not they need to be replaced. Just looking at them just won't cut it any more. Hoses that are bloated, hard, really soft, or crunchy when squeezed are in need of replacement.
