I also recommend the otter box. I use their auger holder on one side and the bucket holder on the other. Inside I can fit a ton of stuff including two vex's and a camera and still tow the portable. I have a picture somewhere but to lazy to look for it. Chains on at least the back a must.

Consider hand shields, hand warmers and a thumb warmer if you plan on taking it long distances across the ice. There have been times my thumb felt like it was going to fall off.

Chains are also a must for me. Look at getting chains with v-bars welded on, gives more grip than conventional tire chains.

S.D. Ice Angular, what year is your Sportsman and do you have any clearance issues with the chains on the front tires? I've been trying to find some for my '05 sportman, but everyone states you can't put chains on the front of them because of spacing issues.

Frontnac it doesnt seem like the snow is that deep. When was that pic taken and was that on Pepin. I would think it should be even with the top of your tires by now.

That pic was taken on Tuesday afternoon. The 20 inches of snow that we got for the most part blew off the ice. In the other spots it turned to slush and froze solid.
