Help! Broken Fenwick

Does anyone know if I would be able to send my recently broken Fenwick HMX ultralight in and get any kind of deal on a replacement. D#$% CARP! It is about 5 years old and I do not have the reciept anymore but I was hoping they might cut me a deal somehow. Fortunately I have a half dozen backups laying around so I can still chase the crappies this spring. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well written emails or mailed letters work great too. Call them up and get people's name and numbers. I have replaced fenwick rods and other manufacturer's doing it this way. Max paid was for shipping too. But try the stores first, call ahead so you are no lugging it around.

I buy all my rods at Joe's Sporting goods here in the cities. They've handled a couple of broken fenwicks for me. If I have the receipt they just give me a new one. If I don't then they charge me about 10 dollars for shipping and they ship it back to Fenwick and Fenwick mails a new one back. You could most likely do that yourself but it's nice that they take care of it for me.

I don't know where you live, but there is a fishing shop in Anoka, and they do an awsome job at fixing broken rods. Its called Anglers paradise. It is off hwy169 in the same building as the liquior store.

I just bought a new ultralight HMX and have the warranty in front of me. It says:

FENWICK LIFETIME PARTNERSHIP GUARANTEE

Thank you for purchasing a Fenwick premium rod. With this rod you get more than just a quality fishing instrument. You gain a long term partner with Fenwick's Lifetime Limited Warranty and Accident Replacement Program.

Lifetime Limited Warranty:
If while fishing this rod fails as a result of a defect in material or workmanship, Fenwick will, at its discretion, replace it for the lifetime of the original owner, with proof of purchase and a $9.95 S&H fee. This warranty is limited to replacement of the rod and does not cover incidental or consequential damage resulting from accidents, normal wear and tear, abuse, misuse, lack of proper maintenance (sidebar: what would this be?), or mishandling. Changes, alterations or modifications to the rod could void the warranty. Some states/provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which may vary by state/province. Please note that most warranty failures occur within the first few times of use. Failures that occur after extensive use are more likely caused by damage or normal wear.

Lifetime Accident Replacement Program:
If your rod is damaged due to an accident or occurance not covered by our warranty, Fenwick will replace the rod at a 55% discount (sidebar: possibly is this their markup?) from our current Fenwick Suggested Retail Price, plus $9.95 S&H.

This is half of the warranty but the most important parts in relation to this thread at this point. The warranty continues with "For Prompt, Courteous Service". There number is 1-877-336-7637.

They will definitly replace it for free. There customer service is awsome! Just send it in to pure fishing group with a quick note that it broke and they will send you another and pay the shipping! I have sent in a half dozen over the last 5 years does not matter what model or how it broke or how many times you broke it as we have slamed a few tips in the door. There customer service is better and faster than Loomis and loomis charges you 20 bucks to replace even if it is there fault. I would know as I have sent in a few of them too.

Pure Fishing, Fenwick will take care of you. They have the finest customer service in the industry. As mentioned, send the rod back, with a short note and a check for $9.95 and you'll have a new rod in 10 days.

Thanks SO much for bringing up this topic and for the replies! I broke off the tip of a Fenwick 2 years ago and was told by Fenwich customer service that it wasn't covered by any warranty (older model and no receipt). I was really bummed.

After seeing the replies, I emailed Pure Fishing. Their response was that if it was under warrenty with a receipt, and they decided the break was covered by the warrenty, no problem. But otherwise there would be a fee which I could call and find out how much.

Next, I called Joe's in St. Paul. The guy was super nice and said just bring it in and they'll send it off. Incredible! Thanks again for the Joe's tip. I just wish I lived closer to them to give them more business. They really know how to run a business right!!
