Honda Generator

This has been a topic on here before, but I was looking at getting a Honda for my Ice Castle as they are almost a must to have. My question is where is the best place to buy one? I know they are all around 800 bucks or so for the 2000 model, but just curious what stores actually sell them? thanks!

Northern Tool has them. Other than if a store offers some discount coupon the price of the 2000 Watt generators are all about the same. Also you could pick up a 1000 watt (which depending on your needs) may be big enough for $500-$550. I saw them on the list. Anyway good luck. You are already well on your way to a good purchase being you are talking Honda.

You need to go with the 2000 we bought one a couple years ago from gander. We brought the ad in from the Outdoor news from a Hardware store advertising a good price. They matched it and gave another dicsount plus open up a charge card and it even is less. We charge batteries run a tv and deep fry all at once and you need it in full throtle but it never shuts down. Put it eco throttle and it will run all night and put it in your truck bed and you wont here it at all. It is quieter than your forced air furnace. Good luck fishing Im pulling out the perm via wheeller on tuesday.

for about the same price I bought a 1650 version at John Deere Never looked back happy as I can be it is basically the same thing it has a subaru engine Ive had mine since 2006 and it just has been fantastic often running 24 hrs a day camping

Maximum output: 1,650 watts

2.8 Horsepower, 86cc Subaru OHC/OHV gasoline engine with low-oil shutdown

Inverter technology reduces size, weight, noise and fuel consumption

Inverter produces high-quality AC power for sensitive electronic equipment (e.g. computers, etc.)

0.93-gal fuel-tank capacity

I did the gas tank hook up with a 3 gal tank. It works great. My suggestion for anyone looking at all those u-tube videos is to use the machined alluminum cap on HSO-Classifieds, only 1 quick connect on the tank end, and clear tubing so you,re sure it working. Buy the extra cap, don't screw yours up. We run 2 houses at night off mine and I'm still 3-4 full in the morning.

about 72 straight hours or so, depending on what your running...i got an intellipower charge wizard in between my batteries and fuse box...meets the demand of the fuse box (furnace, lights, hole lights, 12 volt computer fans, stereo) and keeps the my 2 marine batteries (parallel) topped off nicely...

    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
    • Sketti...  not out of a jar either!
    • Lol yeah I watched that
