wahoo
Can anyone give advice on these Snow Goose Hunts I hear about? I understand that ther is a very generous daily limit and possession limit. Mostly I have heard of NE South Dakota. Any advice on outfitters/guides and the best time to be there? Thanks!
carpshooterdeluxe
the spring season kicks off in arkansas, as the birds work their way back north. many of the birds in the central flyway stage up throughout the migration. these are well known areas such as squaw creek nwr in missouri, the rainwater basins in nebraska, and then they funnel down to a "narrow" corridor in south dakota mainly east of the missouri river and west of I-29. It's a sight to see when there are 1 million plus birds staging on a frozen lake or refuge. Some states have an open ended daily/possession limit. South Dakota has a 20 bird daily limit. On a good migration day you will have guys hunting birds from northern missouri to southern north dakota.a simple google search will give you a TON of information about snow goose hunting. as far as guides go, there are many that will work hard to get you on birds. Neu Outdoors, Lone Drake Waterfowl, Northern Skies Outfitters, Top Gun, Final Flight, Habitat Flats, and many many more are out there to get you on birds. Hunting snows is something that every waterfowler should do at least once. If nothing else, just to watch the migration of all waterfowl in full plumage. Its a blast. Especially when that big flock of dirty juvies comes in and the shot is called at 8 yards...MAKE IT RAIN!

carpshooterdeluxe
not to hijack the thread, but for those of you who go on guided trips, what are a few of the main reasons you'd rather go guided than invest that money into a snow spread? i'm just curious as to what the various reasons would be. I'm guessing maybe lack of time, only interested in 1 or 2 days per season...would love to hear it though! Btw, the juvie hatch is sick. still a pile of em out here, we are going to try and hunt them on saturday.
