frabill icesuit

night bite

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if anyone has been out on the ice with this suit yet. Buying a new suit this year and dont know if I'm going with a AA or a icesuit. I do more portable fishing then sitting on the ice. But I do also sit on the ice when I need to hole jump. Also have a 2 mile ride on sled to secret lake. I have tried on the green and black AA and not sold yet. Didnt like the inside lining. But GAnder and MFF didnt have the icesuit in stock. Just wondering if anyone has tried the two on side by side. Thanks

I looked at the suit pretty hard yesterday at the show, as well as the AA. In the end I went with the sno suit. The sno suit bibs were far and away a better quality product that the frabill (and the AA). The fabric on the bibs felt a lot lighter and weaker than the sno suit, and reminded me a lot of the gray clam suit.

I did like the pockets in the bibs a lot better than AA, and the fit was a bit more generous where it counted and they were more comfortable bending over etc.

Didnt try out the jackets too much, but my buddies with the AA suit both complain about the cold coming in on the shoulders.

So, in summary: The Sno Suit is a better suit, but the Frabill suit seemed like a better deal/product than the AA. But I havent worn any of them on the ice, but shopped pretty hard for them yesterday.

From the Frabill HSOforum: Jackson, W.I. – When the round peg fits in the round hole, you go for it. In that spirit, Frabill, Inc, legendary manufacturer of premium ice fishing products, acquired Snosuit, LLC, the ice fishing industry’s foremost designer of performance winterwear.

I just bought the Frabill ice suit. Extreme all black model. Have not had a chance to get out and fish it but, I have worn it outside in 15 degree weather for an extended period, and I'm toasty warm. Very well constructed, great ergo's, right pockets in all the right places. Felt like I had more room in knee, elbows and shoulder area, than other suits I tried. Don't think you can go wrong with this suit. It has the same thinsulate count as any other in its class of extreme suits.

Go to your local Cabelas, Gander, Mills, try em on and really look at the construction, and the way they fit you. Hope this helps.

I have the Sno Suit and AA.

Both are very different from each other and for that reason get used at specific times.

In a nutshell there is no one outer garment that will work for everything.

Unless your AA is a little big for you your not going to get the amount of layers on that would add up to the warmth of a Sno Suit. AA is more versatile and gets worn more often but when things get down right frigid it is time for the Sno Suit.

When its -10 and lower or when I know I'll be sitting outside for long periods I use the Sno Suit.

Those times are when my outer shell can to be extremely warm and I won't be overheating.

I can add a layer according to temps and activity that will surpass the warmth of AA with layers.

With that extra warmth is weight and bulk.

I wouldn't except one or the other to fit all the needs for everyone.

If your prone to getting cold easily or you fish outside in extreme cold temps and wind chills the Sno Suit without a doubt.

A versatile suit that can adapt with layers and not so much extreme cold and wind chills suit the AA might be for you.

i found out last weekend that the gander mountain in baxter will not be carrying the frabill or sno suit line. when asked why, they said they felt they had enough with what they had, but may carry them next year. you can still get them on their HSOforum however.

You may also order from the Gander site and ship direct to your nearest store, and skip any shipping costs on most items. Free shipping may apply now anyway, it's common this holiday season from most retailers. Same applies with gift card sales, if item needed is not in stock but is available on-line, just order on-line and ship direct to you or to the nearest store.

I went out muzzleloader hunting this am at 6am. I left my stand at 9 as I had shot my deer. It was approx -6 and I had my Ice suit on. I was never a bit cold at all in fact I was almost toasty. There was a little wind but maybe only 5-7 mph so there was a bit of a windchill.

great suit but now my wife needs to clean some blood off it as I got a little messy with the knife.

    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
