Home made quick strike rigs

I was looking at quick strike rigs today and noticed the super small blade above the treble and was wondering if that is all it takes to make it a lure? I looked in the regulations and they dont define size or anything.

Anyone have any tricks for ways they like to rig their own quick strike rigs?

Here's how I do it.

To tie a quick-strike rig with this means simply adding another hook about four inches up the wire. That's done by putting that hook on first and leaving another six inches or so of wire, then adding the bottom hook last.

I used to use only quick-strike rigs, but am always looking for ways to simplify without sacrificing effectiveness, so I do the single treble now. Because of the way I position my tip-ups, I'm never far from either one, and can easily get there fast enough so it's not gut-hooked. I've been using these for two or three years now, and have only gut-hooked one pike.

I suggest buying the tiny metal spinners like you see here. I used to use the little plastic ones that came with Swedish Pimple spoons, or the similar small plastic ones you can get in bulk, but they often ended up tearing off the rig, and a bead alone is not enough to make it legal. Hate to have a CO walk up after a plastic one broke off and check your rig.
