I am looking for a good vacation lake in mid-to northern minnesota for the last weekend in july. Looking for a lake with a good panfish or walleye bite as well. A nice secluded lake with minimal development. The kind of lake you would all like to find in other words. Thanks for you input.

I second Vermilion, but Cass Lake has a lot of what you are looking for too. If you want secuded, you can go into Pike Bay via a 5 minutes troll through a channel and have a large lake to yourself. I think that there is only 2 houses on it and no boat launch.

There are lots of different places . Vermillion is a great place for sure . Houseboat trips are a real blast also. They have those on Crane,Kab,Rainy, and the Big V. To me you need to be a little more descriptive of what you are looking for. What do you want Cabins and a resort type of setting or a forest campground ?

If you really like to rough and I mean rough it, go to quetico park in canada. NO electricity, running water, and most importantly, no people but your good friends. After a hour long portage your home free to catch big fish.

Thankyou everyone for the replies,

I should have said that this is a family vacation. 6 in the family 3 guys and 3 girls....girls arent exactly the type to rough it though. Probably looking for a cabin or something like that. Remember we are wanting walleyes and panfish. I would like panfish more. thanks

If you don't mind going a bit north, pelican in Orr is a good choice. In the secluded sense it is a step above vermilion but I don't think the fishing is as good for ************. Panfishing is good however, in fact as you enter town you can't miss the huge gill. smile.gif
They have a new Americinn right on the lake, decent prices and a dock for your boat, and waterslides inside for the kids if it rains.
