Cattail Swamps Soild Yet?

Any reports on if swamps are ice or still wet? Most of my best spots around Sauk Centre to Starbuck where too wet a couple of weeks ago to hunt, I am hoping they are froze now.

I was muzzleloader hunting yesterdsay aft and walked the edge of one and that seemed fine but those areas are sure slow to freeze.

I found swamps that were completely frozen and we could walk in the open water areas and others that weren't.

The ones where there was a lot of vegetation matted down were less frozen because the vegetation is providing insulation. In areas where the cattails and grasses were still standing, the ice was frozen well.

As long as there is no moving water you can walk on the ice. I just got back from hunting Starbuck area slews.

Be careful. Cattails are notorious for bad ice. They have a hard time freezing solid near the base of the cattails. I have fallen through in the middle of jan

They were walkable south of Alex. Broke through a couple times, but it was in current areas.
