NorthernOutdoors
I was lucky enough to get a new CVA muzzleloader to use this fall, and I'm extremely excited to try it out. What steps do you take when sighting in the gun for the first time? I'm very new to muzzleloading, and I'm looking for as much detail as possible. I'll be using 777 pellets and a Hornady bullet I believe. Thanks in advance for the advice!
96trigger
You might want to get a few different types of bullets to see what shoots the best out of your gun. There is a powder and bullets thread just below this that you should read. I shoot hornady 250 grain SST bullets and 100 grains of 777 powder along with Federal 209 ML primers. Works great out of my gun. Get used to shooting and cleaning the more you practice, the easier it gets.
Archerysniper
I sight mine in at 3" high at 50 yards with a 250 grain hornaday sts and 150 grains of tripple 7 but at 150 yards the diffrence from 100 grains to 150 grains was only around a inch. 3" high at 50 will cover you for as far as any normal shooting distance in this state.
