Mock scrapes and scent drippers

Recommended Posts

I think timing is key here and we're a solid week or two past prime scraping activity. Most bucks are on the move and won't start hitting scrapes again until around Thanksgiving. You could still try it but I think you'd have better results using other tactics. Start some mocks early next fall and hang a camera, you'll be astonished how many bucks show up.

I made a mock scrape on Saturday, by sunday a buck had made another scrape about 20 feet away and also rubbed a big tree nearby. I just took a stick and made the scrape, put a couple drops of tinks #69 on it and also on the licking branch. I shot a 7 on Sunday and my uncle shot a 9 Monday at that site. Neither were the buck that made the rub I dont think, just because it was a big rub on a big tree. Our bucks were pretty much baskets. I think there is a bigger one yet around there.
