fishinJohn
If you heat with wood and are happy with the quality of your add-on wood furnace I would like to know what kind you have. I want to buy a new one so a company that is still in business is preferable. I am in the process of swapping out a gas water heater to a power direct vent model, freeing up my chimney. I don't really want to go with the latest from the big box store because I fear the quality would have me hauling it out of the basement sooner than I want to. My house is a 2,000 sq. ft tri-level. I kind of liked what I read about Charmaster furnaces but I am not sure if $4k and 800 lbs. are totally necessary. Thanks for any experience you can share. Drew
I am also looking at an add on. The brand manards carries is made in Minnesota. Pine Center I thing. If you compare the specs it looks like a pretty good unit.
Steve Foss
I run an old Kuuma wood furnace made by Lamppa Manufacturing in Tower, Minn. Their current models are amazing. Nearly pulled the trigger on a new one, but this one just keeps going strong, and it would have been a major project getting it down my basement. Thermos
Just a quick thought to consider.....more than likely your water heater flue is a Class B type of flue, not capable of venting solid fuel bi-products. A Class A type of flue is required for wood heat.
