Tons of trees down up north!

We were around the McGregor area last weekend. I have never seen so many trees down from one storm. There was still some snow in the woods that made it easier to see. We had to hook up the strap and drag one off the min. maint road. we were on just to pass. All of the ones on the forest roads were already sawed off. Looks like the majority were poplars but some pine down also. Lots of water in the woods also with several trails impassable. I learned my lesson never to put a stand in a poplar a few years ago. Mother nature taught me that!

Looks like a lot of people are going to have a hard time getting to there deer stands and camps this year, let alone drag out a deer. Be prepared and have a saw on hand. Water proof boots wouldn't hurt either. Didn't seem to affect the deer much, we saw plenty while looking for grouse.

Good Luck,

Ferny.

I spent all day Saturday near Aitkin re-opening trails to deer stands and tipping my dad's stand back up on it's legs. At least a dozen small poplar trees had fallen over the trail to my stand. My dad's stand was out in the middle of a swamp, had it staked down in 3 locations and that still wasn't enough. Surpisingly none of the windows broke, but a coffee mug inside the deer stand shattered!
