Huskie
I had a big willow go down a week ago and had the stump ground out and refilled with dirt. Would it do me any good to seed the area with grass now or to wait until the spring or a little of both.
KEN W
Won't make any difference. The ground is to cold for it to germinate.Seed it now and it will get an early start next spring because you won't have to wait for it to dry.
LwnmwnMan2
You can do it now, dormnant seeding.Although, I would recommend either putting straw over it, or waiting until we get a snow.If you do it, say today, and the seed just sits on top of the ground, then the birds and critters will just eat away at the seed.Make sure you rake it in like normal, and then put some light cover over it. Luck e 1
so my buddy and i were going to do a late aeration and dormant overseed. to piggyback off the original question...if we do an overseed right now will we hurt it in the spring when we add our early season pre-emergent or early season fertilizer? LwnmwnMan2
I THINK Scotts has a pre-emergent that's safe for seeding, but don't quote me on that.99.99% of people will tell you that you cannot use a pre-emergent on new grass until it's been mowed 3 times. I do not think you would want to do that. I think you would be wasting your time and money on seeding. Just my
