im fishing off of a pier in algoma off of lake michigan and i use a 1 ounce sinker with a treble hook about two feet above the sinker with a red spawn sack.my buddies have tried marshmellows but still no luck.

You're better off casting heavy spoons with a long spinning set-up.

The Salmon, Brown Trout and Steelhead are typically cruising the pier areas looking for baitfish, typically Alewives or Smelt.

Try 1 oz. Silver/Chartruese or Silver/Orange Kastmasters, Cleos or Krocodile Spoons.

If you're fishing low-light periods, e.g. night, you can even cast Thundersticks or Rapalas around the Piers and hook into some dandy fish.

Save the bait-rig for winter or colder water applications.

I've been over to the Two Rivers piers this fall here's what's produced for me. Since you'll be fishing in WI, you'll be able to use multiple lines. One one use Kast masters, krocs, or cleos in various colors 'til one produces One 2nd use a lindy-style bottom rig with alweive -- live if you can find 'em. On the third use a lindy-style bottom rig with a chartreuse spawn sac on with a large Northland Glo/white floating jighead. The last presentation has been produced the greatest number of hits for me, BUT the hooks on Northland floating jigheads aren't very heavy guage so if you get a monster they tend to straighten out on you.

Instead of a floating jighead, try a corky, or better yet a few party marshmellows with a steelhead style hook to float it up off the bottom.

Those floating jigheads are good for a smaller fish, but a bigger hard fighting fish? I wouldn't chance it.

Does anyone have any good tips for catching salmon.I've been out four times already and nothing but a couple bites.they are always jumping right next to your line but no bites any tips on how to land these "jumpers" any help will be appreciated.

well everyone thanks again for the tips but unfotunately i didnt get to go thia weekend i ended up spraining my ankle while packing up but nextweekend imgoingfishing!!!!
