What size shot for Ruffed Grouse?

Recommended Posts

was that a joke about the .22 out of the window and the #1 steel for Grouse?? I sure hope so cause I live in Ely, mn and thats about as far north as a guy can go without swimming in Canadian waters and we aren't frickin' rednecks up here. definately don't shoot out the window and can't stand ground pounding up here either. I agree with -rkhinrichs- depends on how spooky yours birds are, but an improved choke for birds that hold tight works best when paired with 7 to 8 1/2 shot so you don't pepper the breast. If they are in fact jumpy birds that get up early try a little bigger shot, or maybe a mod choke. Hope that helps!

Id think midwest archery is a grouse slayer the way he talks!!!! and there is no shame ground pounding a grouse if they are to stupid to fly up at 10 yards you have the god given right to take the STUPID gene out of the gene pool. you shoot deer off the ground so whats the diff!!!!????
