Nov. 14 Family Night Meeting

Recommended Posts

Many items contributed to the success of the October Fishing Minnesota Family Night Meeting.
Most important of those were the number of Fishing Minnesota Pro Staff that came. Their efforts in attending and sharing information there was HUGE in making the meeting interesting and very informative.

A special thank you here to all staff who came!
Present were:
Mike Lee - CrossinEyes
Ray Esbolt
Jim Wernimont - Jim W
Kevin Linn - Dark30
Dennis Steele
Dan Wood
Steven Rennberg - Renneberg
Wes Peterson - Uffda Pete
Jim Burns - Jimmy
John Eggers - SpinDoctor
Tom Sawvell - Crappie Tom
Mike Smith - HOF
Jon Navratil - Navigator
Richard "Smitty" Smith
Dave Hoggard - Catch'n
And, of course.... thanks Rick Paquin for attending! If I missed anyone that is on FM pro staff here on the list who attended, please add your name in a reply post... and sorry if I missed anyone.

A $1.00 donation jar was set out for collection to go to the person that drove the farthest to attend the meeting... it was split between "CrossinEyes" and "Ice John" by mutual consent ("CrossinEyes" drove in from WI. and "Ice John" from Iowa) both were aprox. 148 miles.

I thank Cabela's Retail Store of Owatonna for the kind consideration and hospitality of using the meeting room for free! That was very much appreciated.

My wife & kids dined from the Cabela's Menu and all did agree to the food was great and there was plenty of it portion-wise... HUGE sandwiches.
I had the chicken & wild rice soup... it was excellent, and I topped it off with a chunk of carmel cheese cake! smile.gif YUM

For the November 14th. meeting, we'll be dining off the Cabela's menu again. That seemed to work well... and gives us more choices in the kinds of meals available and cost.

If you think you'll be able to attend the November 14th. meeting please let us know by posting a reply on this thread. It is great to have an advanced "head count".

More information will follow on this thread with posts about topics and new guidelines for the meeting for November. There is no meeting in December. The January meeting is set for Jan. 23.

I am thrilled to announce FishingMinnesota's SECOND Family Night Meeting! This November meeting will be held at the Cabela's Retail Store in Owatonna, MN. on November 14.

These meetings are FREE & open to the public and meant to promote "FM".
The meetings will provide a place to share fishing information face-to-face, and generate some "entertainment" for a regular social "gathering".
The meetings will also serve to generate in-person contacts and "relations" with existing FM members. And will bring in new FM members.
Each meeting will have an FM forum moderator as MC - master of ceremonies, many FM pro staff in attendance, guest speakers & reps from companies associated with FM, and involve an evening meal.

The meeting scheduled at Cabela's Retail will be held in their meeting room (at the top of the stairs and to the right) by the food service area. This room seats aprox. 120 people and has a microphone & overhead projector, tables & chairs.

FM Pro Staff meeting starts at 6:00pm with a 30 minute socal time for non FM staff.

The FishingMinnesota Family Night Meeting would start at 6:30pm, with supper starting promptly at 7:00pm. We will dine off the regular menu for the November meeting.

Meeting is over at 8:30pm.

Cabela's is closed at 9pm.

Those inclined, can leave the closing Cabelas and head to Timberlodge (just North of Cabela's) for an additional social experience.

The agenda is "open" for this second meeting. All meetings are to be fun "get-together" type events. Pete Riola will be speaking about Ice Leaders & ICE tournaments.

I would love to see some reps. from fishing related companies attend, and ask that they be "recognized" throughout the evening to share any information.

I would also hope many of you will stay over-night and enjoy a day of Owatonna area fishing. Cabela's will provide shuttle service for you intereste, to and from the Cabela's Retail Store and to the Medford Outlet Mall. MOM and the kids may like this!

We will soon announce the "Saturday after" event schedule including the local lake of choice & hot spots.

As for accomidations, the Americinn of Owatonna has sent me this information:

Guys & Gals,
October's meeting was set for an "open agenda". Our November 14th. meeting will not be the same open format and will be held with much more "structure" and reguard to time.

I ask that all vendor products be displayed only against the back wall of the meeting room.

Changed is:

FM Pro Staff meeting starts at 6:00pm.
Non FM staff are asked to order your meals(if so inclined) and begin eating at this time. We will be dining off the regular Cabela's menu.

The FishingMinnesota.com Family Night Meeting will start at 6:30pm (we will continue to dine with the meeting in progress). This will allow for more "meeting" time.

Our guest speaker will be Pete Riola from www.fishfever.com. Pete will show us some video clips and discuss MarCum electronics, and the Ice Leaders ICE Series.

Other persons wishing to speak (speaker times will be limited) and VIP guests will be recognized.

We will have a 10 minute break at 7:30.

Meeting is over at 8:30pm.

Cabela's is closed at 9pm.

We will have "social" time at Timberlodge Steak House after 9:00pm.

I hope to see you all there!
A head count is apperciated....

Hey thanks to Dave FM gets more press and so does the Family Night. I just read an article on the event in the current Mid West Outdoors MN section. It is a good article that is sure to bring others including myself to the next event. Keep up the good work Dave and FM!!!!!

Pherris,
Thanks for letting us know the announcement made the MN section of Mid West Outdoors.
Great that they let everyone know about the Fishing Minnesota Family Night meetings smile.gif

I look at FishingMinnesota Family Night to become a "tradition" here in Minnesota. It is a great chance to meet people and visit over dinner / snaks while learning LOTS about interesting topics, tips, techniques, and fishing places to go... and you do not have to be able to TYPE to enjoy it smile.gif
Fun!

I have made a printable banner that announces the November & January dates for FM Family Night meetings. It is a color single page flyer that you can email me for.... at [email protected]
You may want to print up some of these, from my return email, and post them round your town, in the local bait shop, at the gas station, barber shop, laundry, etc...
This will help even more to spread the news of the meeting and help to promote FishingMinnesota.com!

The Nov. 14 Fishing Minnesota Family Night Meeting is coming up FAST...
I just wanted to remind all to come.

This is going to be a fun event and very informative.
Pete Riola will be playing some clips from his fishfever.com site. We may even get him to take us all down to the sales floor and give us a MarCum LX3 demo.
The Marcum on display is "hooked-up" with a transducer that leads to the fish tank so you see real fish on the locator. I am sure we could twist Peet's arm to have him show us a thing or two on the LX3.
Pete will also inform us on the ICE Series progress.

Jim Wernimont will speak about the next Trout Days event. Jim spoke a bit at the first meeting and is an excelent speaker with tons of river trout & smallmouth experience to share.

Please consider this as a great way to spend your friday night out. It is a "family thing" and an excellent setting for the wife and kids to come with.

Hope to see "you all" there!

Dave,
Thanks for your hard work with this and kind words!!

It would be nice to meet new faces. I am sure those who came last time don't want to hear me
speak again? Not that you shouldn't come again, PLEASE do!!!

This is a very good time folk and a great opportunity to establish some new fishing connections while learning a thing or two!

See you all there!!!!

Keep the rods bendin'!!!

Jim W
