Who is still seeing bears in their baits?

Recommended Posts

I am still hunting. Had one come in last Thursday and now was back on Teusday night. Has not been consistant. Hopefully he was back last night. Curious as to see who else is tuffing it out. I know Boar is still working at it. I am just down to running 1 bait site now. I plan to do a burn or 2 this weekend. Good luck to all that are still trying.

We checked again yesterday...had 5 of 8 still hitting, but they haven't been very consistant with most of them skipping one-two or three days quite often...didn't have any daylite hits either...hopefully they take a turn for shootable times so we can get a crack at a couple soon!

I got a mom and young one coming in like clock work. Neighbor is letting me hunt his property because the bears are getting into his corn and wrecking them. Not sure if I should shoot her because of it being a nuisance bear. How many pounds is a young one good enough to be on its own? Not sure if it is last years or this years.

In the bear hunt regs they used to describe a current year cub as being "smaller" than a 100 pound sack of potatoes...and they also included that a cub is "usually" under 80 pounds...If this bear is four feet tall when standing from it's back feet to the top of it's head it is more than likely this years cub...if it's four feet from the tip of it's nose to the tail it very well could be last years cub...if you are really unsure don't shoot...if the bears have been reported as nusience bears to the local CO you may want to give them a call and get thier opinion, since the bears are causing damage....If you shoot one...the other is sure to stick around and continue getting into whatever they're not supposed to be into...

Only getting activity about once a week over last couple weeks. Going to try hunting again this weekend. See what happens, results will determine whether I hunt again the following weekend or go try fishing instead. Good luck to anyone still out there.

I a gree with fox, it' will be fine but if your unsure dont shoot, if the cub is the size of an average size lab to hieght of the back, then it;s last years cub, but you'll open your self up to alot of scrutiny, lot of nay sayers to taking a sow with a cub. Good luck boar

For me it's hard to tell, if it was on all fours I have a better idea. but if that bag is at four feet the nose to tail is... Actually referencing the sow to teh little tree she comes up to just over the back of your knee. she aint very big either, Boy hard for me to say. I would just let em' grow. Boar

Man chris thats a nice bear, good luck to night. I had to leave right after I talked to ya an sent my email. Toanswer your question about burning twice in a row, if I was burning honey tonight an if he dosent show, I think I would decide to burn tomorrow, I'd keep the burn scent the same. If you decide to do bacon, I was wait a few days after the honey, maybe Mon, Tuesday for sure. Boy nieko, thats a tough one, thats a much better picture of the sow. Nice sow. Got a cub. That would be totally personal preference, A legal bear by the looks of the cub, dosnet look like first year, so hard to say. I dont wanna tell ya what Id do cause I dont know what I'd do. How much time, money, equipment, gas, wife's eyebrows beating you down to end this, did ya get one last year, how empty is the frezzer, good luck on deciding what to do. Do what you feel is best for U an the resource. Boar

I have been lucky as it is right across the road from where I live. I get home and bait every other day. I have gone through about 12 bags so far and about a drum of bait. The wife is pretty good about it as she has bear hunted before and knows how it is. I did get one last year here and I am out of meat. I prefer bear meat over deer, not that I am not going to eat venison I just like bear that much. There is a single boar and another mother with a bigger cub so I think I will try a honey burn and see if I can lure one of the other ones in this weekend.

Jerkbait, what Moultrie Camera do you have? Temp reading would be nice to have.
