O.K. I just got the skinny on the whole thing from the dnr as it pertains to me. I mainly bowhunt. What I cannot do is tag a doe with my archery license in a lottery area and kill a buck anywhere in the state with my BOW. I can buy a rifle tag or ML tag and shoot a buck in a management or IH area.

Yes, the reason you cannot tag a buck anywhere with your bow after you tag a doe in a lottery area is because you had to use your either sex tag on the doe, but once a new season comes around (i.e firearm/ML), you can buy a new either sex tag.

You CAN still hunt does in a Managed or Intensive area with your bow and use a management tag.

The rules are actually much simpler once you gain an understanding of what you can and cannot do. It is tough at first, but does get easier as you get used to them.

I can understand how things can get confusing but the rules are pretty basic, you just have to remember the basic rules before you dive into some of the other rules that give you more options. I think when people start getting into trouble is when they start thinking outside the box and asking questions that might add up in your head but don't add up if you follow the basic rules. I am kind of generalizing here so bare with me.

Now the great thing about these rules it they allow a guy to hunt anywhere in the state using multiple weapons and shoot a lot of deer if you want to put in the time and effort. Its a very flexible system with a lot of freedom, but sometimes that freedom required regs that you might need to read more than once to really nail them down. In my opinion its worth it.

Now on the other hand all this freedom and options leads to a lot of pressure on the deer for a long period of time so you kind of have to take the good with the bad, goes for the regs too.

OK its simple you can hunt in multiple areas management, intensive or lottery using multiple weapons. IF you hunt management and intensive them you can take 5 total deer 2 in management 3 in intensive area with whatever weapon combo you want etc etc. The most anybody can take is five and only one buck and a buck has to go on your main license not a bonus tag.
