dooger
Someday I would like to make a trip to Montana fly fishing. I am hoping that this happens in the next couple of years but one never knows because this thing people call "college" seems to take all my money . Just wondering what time of the year is best for fishing the rivers in western Montana and ones that are easily fly fished? Since I have never been over there any information would be helpful. Big Hit
I've been to Western Montana the last couple of summers. Go in late August. Hopper fishing is amazing and the big boys are out.
OnAFly
Check out HeadHunters in Craig if you are going to the Missouri River. You won't be disappointed, even if you're just looking for local info. It's a pretty easily found HSOforum. If you want big fish and you don't care how you catch them (dry fly, streamer, nymphing), the streamer bite is killer in November...or so I hear... Though the fishing in MN might be great in april/may, in MT you will probably be dealing with high water. I would stick to the mid-summer/fall months.
