setterguy
Looking to build a storage shed in the backyard and am thinking while I'm at it put a kennel off one side with a nice heated doghouse inside. My dogs are inside but its always nice to be able to leave them out during the day. I'm sure I could modify any plans easy enough but just wondering if anyone has run across any specific for this purpose. I've done some searches with no luck so far. Thanks. Blaze
Closest thing I've seen is something like THIS...CLICK HERE. I know a couple people who have built similar setups with a heated storage room inside with 4x6 kennels and dog doors going to outdoor runs. MuleShack
If you wanted the dog outside the shed all the time, you could put the fence outside with the dog house. Giving the dog access to inside the shed for shelter and then going outside to play or relieve themselves is the best.I have a 10 x 20 fenced kennel run ouside my garage and cut a hole in the garage wall and made a sleeve going into the side of the dog house. I then installed a SOLO pet door on the inside of the garage. I purchases a few sections of chainlink from menards and have a 4 x 10 section inside the garage that is fenced off with 2 pet pads for sleeping. This is priceless as I can leave both dogs out in the garage when we leave. They have their freedom to go outside to go do their business or take in the fresh air and still can come in if it rains...all with out being locked up in a crate. The SOLO door uses electric but only requires a magnet to operate the door and it is air tight so it wont let cold air blow into my heated garage.Might be a little elaborate for a storage shed, but the pet door would give the same functionality. It also keeps critters out that are unwanted unless they are carrying the magnet also.I can post some pictures if your interested?
