Quackaddict9
motorized decoys are battery operated and these can not be used the first 10 days of the season, If I remember right. Wind Powered spinning decoys are OK.

bigstick56
I thought I read something about spinning wing decoys are legal on private land just not on public water? Is any of this sounding right or did i mishear or misread something....?
Quackaddict9
Yes it is illegal on most wma's if it is ok on some they will list them.... Public waters, private land is ok. I do not have the waterfowl regualtions on hand so I can't say for sure on WMA's but know for most part of it, its illegal.Jordyn- yes you cannot use them anywhere in the state of MN the first 10 days of the season or whatever it is. It may be less than that but it says what date you can start using them in the waterfowl regulation handbook.
Jordyn Kaufer
thanks I though they were illegal for the whole season but nevermind. Thank you for the quick responses!!!! Good luck to all this weekend and be safe!
lilwalter
From the MN Waterfowl regs......From the opening day of the duck season (and on Youth Waterfowl Day)through Saturday October 9, a person may not use a motorized decoy or othermotorized device designed to attract migratory waterfowl. On water bodies andlands fully contained within state wildlife management area boundaries, a personmay not use motorized decoys or motorized devices designed to attract migratorywaterfowl at any time during the duck season. This restriction applies whether themotor is running or not. Devices without motors, such as wind-powered spinningwingdecoys, are not restricted under this law. MinnetonkaMan
Nope you cant use spinning wing decoys anywhere until Oct 9. But if i were you I would get a wind powered just in case their is lots of wind on Saturday and get a jerk rig. The woodies love it when they see about eight of their buddies swimming back in fourth while Im controlling the cord. And I mean decoys not live ducks just to let people know!!!!!Also in MN you cant use remote controlled devices.
skee0025
Also in MN you cant use remote controlled devices. Can someone post the location of this in the regs. I have gone thru the standard hunting reg book and the waterfowl sup and did not see a reference to this anywhere. The fact that its 0315 may have something to do with it disregard....found it..Page 23 of the general regs
