DTro
....if you tell someone you went 7yrs and 120k on your brake pads and there is actually still some left. Sure sounds like a swell deal. ...until you go to change them. Oxidation seeems to like to attack these so called "pins" that hold the pads in. So you try most everything and as a last resort go with a BFH and find a way to bugger up the ends so that even when you do get it to move, it aint slidin though any hole. My swear jar runeth over and my beer supply gone. Alas, 4hrs later, I have new brakes. How do you guys do this every day????
MNice
That sounds like me, I got 174,000 on original pads, but the change went very well. I'm sure I still swore though.

Shack
Rotate the rotors is one that has been used to cure mysterious issues, but nothing on a maintenance schedule. Mapp Gas and heat works, but can melt things in the caliper, but calipers are cheap, most times.
solbes
I hear you on what a PITA it is. Sadly, my neighbor who did a lot of auto work has left. He used to change all 4 of mine for $100 if I brought him the parts. My truck has been squeakin for a couple of months now. Sounds like a six pack and a ruined Saturday afternoon in November.
