For a sinker stop, I use a slip bobber stop (buy them in bulk packs with the beads). Just slide on a Lindy no-snag or a bullet sinker, then the bead, then slide the bobber stop onto the line and tighten it down. This allows you to set the snell length as long as you like it.

I bought the actual rubber stopper and bead setup, what a mistake Works fine if you never move or troll or real in, the minute there is any pressure on the dang thing is slips and you need to reset it. In other words you never know how long the darn thing is.

I plan on trying out a roach rig this weekend for the first time. I've never read anywhere that a swivel is used. Does anybody have any experience with these and did you use a swivel?

No swivel required - just a slip knot/bead/weight. I like to use these because you can adjust the length of the snell without much hassle, just move the slip not and the rest will follow. Only down side is the knot sometimes loosen's especially if your pulling through rocks, etc.

The thicker bobber stop line seems to work best. THose rubber snubs move because they wear every time you move them. If you use them on a bobber make sure you get 1 size smaller than you need for your line. Then they wont slide so much.

I've found that when tying those knots on thinner mono, I have to keep the mono under tension to keep it from getting looped into the knot and getting all curly-q when I slide the knot. Braid isn't a problem, though.

If you happen to see any of that old black nylon fishing line - the stuff that's practically rope - GRAB IT! That stuff makes great stop-knots and the knot is pretty easy to tie. I use two variations - one for braided main-line and one for mono.

I can't see spending $2.00 for six knots and beads.

I don't like the rubber ones - too much slide like mentioned above, and the little wire loop can nick mono during installation.
