John Heller Cancer benefit

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

Some of you may know John from his involvement with Dave Genz and the original "fish trap" and some of his other contributions (ice chaps, auger enhancements, rod holders from outdoor creations etc...)

In July John was diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer and he and the family have begun the fight and really could use some help and encouragement. As many of you are aware the Hellers lost their youngest son Jesse to a drunk driver several years ago and now with John's illness the bills are really mounting. We wanted to get involved as John's friends because we knew he would be doing the same for us if the roles were reversed because that is the kinda guy he is. We are holding a benefit for the Hellers and need folks to come out and encourage John and family.

If you can't make it and want to get involved somehow drop me a line and I would be happy to try to help you figure out a way to help.

Thanks for reading this far.

John Heller Benefit

Sep 25, 2010 -

Please join us for a benefit lunch/dinner for our friend, John Heller. John was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the gall bladder and liver.

The doctors, hospitals and chemotherapy bills are mounting and we are hosting a day of shooting, music and fun in his honor to support John and his family financially and spiritually.

The event will be at 220 189th Ave. NE, East Bethel, MN 55014. A $10.00 ticket gets you admission and a hotdog or hamburger, chips and a beverage--as well as puts you in a drawing for a shotgun at the end of the evening.

There will be music, games, silent and live auction, and a trap-shoot competition for your chance at yet another shotgun--the more clays you break--the better your odds.

Join us on Saturday, September 25th for fun, fellowship, music and so much more.

For more information, e-mail: [email protected]

Tickets will be on sale at Horizon's Community Church in Ham Lake on Sunday Sept 5th and Sept. 12th and 19th. And of course at the event!

Directions to 220 189th Ave NE, East Bethel, MN 55014:

Take highway 65 to Viking Blvd, (Hwy 22) go west to University, (right by Oak Grove/East Bethel sign), turn left, (south) to "T" in road, (189th Ave), turn left to 3rd house on right--we'll be in the big pole barn, parking in field just behind pole barn

This is sad to here about John and I hope this event is a huge success. smile

IcePro good idea! You can stop in during the morning and support John, then be heckling Hanson as a he puts on seminars during the afternoon. grin This sounds like a great idea.

If anyone was unable to attend, but still wanted to donate, is there way to do so? I am not fond of dropping cash in the mail and have not ordered any checks going on 4 years now.

Thanks to all who attended and supported John and the family- what a great success. Thanks for the forum to put this out there and advise the sporting community of a brother in need!

The live auction on the Mulely antler knives was something that I will never forget. What a cool bunch of people!

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
