Mid-Lake Rock
Hi guys. I'm thinking about finally upgrading my vehicle. Looking at 07 to 09 F150 and Sierras. Pricing really seems all over the board. My brother is of the opinion that I should wait until the snow starts to melt. He believes prices are higher before winter and during the first few snows of the year. Any opinions on my brother's theory? Thanks.
whos_on_first
I had the same opinion as your brother...until they parked a nice 08 Silverado in front of a dealership on my way to and from work. I didn't have the patience to wait and bought one in December. I've looked a few vehicles since with the same options/add-ons, just to look, and really haven't seen much of a difference in price. pulleye16
When I was looking (for over a year) prices didn't seem to change TOO much. The only thing that seemd to drive down prices was when there were similar vehicles for sale in the same area (this from classified ads only). Just an FYI IMO, I know slightly used vehicles tend to be cheaper, but if you're looking at taking out a loan, compare the interest with buying used to a new vehicle with no interest, most companies are having that option now. goblueM
consider looking nationwide rather than just locally... often you can find deals in other areas of the country
Back2Dakota
Agree with goblue. Just bought a new to me truck with 13000 miles on it with ALOT of nice upgrades(lift, exhaust, intake, rims). Original sticker was still in it $46000-It was a repo and I didnt pay anywhere near that.I drove 300+ miles into Wisconsin to get it. They had the same truck in town with almost the same upgrades minus leather, nav, moon with 32,000 miles for $31999-I didnt pay anywhere near that either with my truck having alot less miles with the leather, nav and moon. I did alot of searching-and the further you can go the better the prices. The Ford dealer in Brainerd seamed to be ok also. Iowa for Toyotas was good pricing. A dealer in town did not only match but beat the price of the SUV we bought for the wife. The better priced one was 250 miles away and I printed that ad out and told them I would drive that far for a few thousand in savings in a heart beat-In town dealer was a so called "no-haggle" dealer,,,ha
Mid-Lake Rock
Thanks guys. I've now started looking throughout the Midwest. Lots of similar trucks in different states priced nearly the same. Power of the internet I guess. I'm finding some good deals here and there. Now I need to decide if I want to spend extra for four doors or save with an extended cab.
whos_on_first
Depends on what you're using it for. If you like the people who will be sitting in the back, go with 4. It's a huge difference. But, if you plan on hauling stuff on a reular basis in the bed, make sure it will fit.
Back2Dakota
I got the crew cab long bed (7'3") I will never own another short again!!
caseymcq
I bought an extended cab a few years ago. I have a 3 year old and a dog. Those two alone have helped me make the decision my next truck will be a four door. If you have three or more adults that travel with you with any type of regularity, the four doors may be greatly appreciated. There are also good deals to be had out there on loans. I just bought a 2007 car in June and I got an extremely good intrest rate (3.65%) because I made the dealer shop around. They had to go to a bank in California to get it . Some of the credit unions in the state were close (3.99%) so there are some good rates to be had.
CJH
When the economy is good, yes its better to buy Trucks in the summer and cars in the winter - in general. You can always shop around and find good deals if you look hard enough. With the economy being down and the volume of vehicles being purchased down significantly, not sure it has as much impact. There should be more selection on the lots as well.As mentioned above, interest rates are about as low as you will ever find them. Definitely shop around for rates, often the dealer will throw out a high rate, just to see if you'll go for it. Best to have an idea before you set foot in the dealership.
