solar power chargers

Gadgetman

Question

Anybody using solar power battery chargers in their fish houses. I think that it would be handy not to have to haul them out to recarge them so often. Are there affordable panels out there that will work in the cold? Love to hear what people are doing. I tried it last year but the panel I had couldnt keep up

did you run any lights during the day?? I haven't had a chance to try mine yet. I'm putting the camper out on the 11th. I have 1.3 volt solar panel just to keep the battery topped off. I'm planning a couple overnighters but that's it. I have 3 12 volt lights that I'll be running.

No I only run lights at night-unfortunately I have to work during daylight hours...does your charger keep your batteries charged or do youstill end up having to take them in periodically? I can run two 40 watt bulbs for a couple of weeks and then the battery gives it up and I have to drap the darn thing in. Lookng for a way to avoid that especially since ice is pretty thin in my area- 9". And incidentally, several knuckle heads driving full size vehicles on the ice. Sure hope they dont go thru as I wont be very excited about helping them. Nature trying to weed out the stupid perhaps... confused.gif
