Question for you all

I'm considering the purchase of a used nikon dslr, but I would not be receiving the box,owners manuel or the cd that came with it. The owners manuel I'm not worried about, I'm sure it can be found on the web or from nikons web site. But what about the cd? Is that going to be a huge problem?

You should be fine with out the cd as long as you have some sort of software that will allow you to download and edit the photos on your computer. Honestly with the three cameras I have bought I could have done without the cd.

I've never used the CD's. SD card goes right in the laptop.

There is a good chance you can go to the book store and get something there for the camera. The one I got made it easier for me with the examples in it. The book maybe something like 'Nikon xxx For Dumbies'. I remember there was a fair selection.

Same here. I don't think there is anything on the CD that you can't download from Nikon anyway. ViewNX is probably the most useful program on the disk, I don't use it often but it can be useful to sometimes, it's definitely not a 'must have' program though.
