Bois Brule and Big Browns

Hey Gang,

I'm toying with the idea of heading up to the Bois Brule for a night this weekend - unfortunately only one night is what time will allow these days - and wondering about lake run browns. You know, the big ugly looking mothers with hooked jaws (sometimes) and violoently ill tempered when provoked or tempted enough. Been wanting to get up there for years to hunt one down with dahlberg diver or mouse patterns at night.

Since I'll probably only have a night up there if it becomes a reality, I'm wondering if it'd be worth my time to drive up from the cities. Was probably going to focus on the lake section, but wondering if you guys have any ideas or suggestions.

Or feel free to share any stories as of late about the Brule. Since time doesn't seem to be on my side might as well vicariously fish through others and romanticize about the possibilities...might have to make something happen this fall though if something doesn't allow in the near future.

Later,

Marc

I haven't been up there fishing the big browns in years, and my experiences weren't that great back then. It's definitely hit or miss, kind of like the spring steel run. You may want to call the fly shop in Superior for up-to-date reports.

Call a shop. They are getting lotsa rain so the flow chart showed 500cfs 300cfs in the spring is getting hard to cross without a partner 500 no way to dangerous. It may even be out of its banks making it a mudded out mess.

She is still too high to fish, but should be okay by this weekend...if we dont get anymore rain. Talked to steve, the owner of the bait box in superior the other day, there was a guy that spent 3 weeks on the river, and finally landed one! they are one of the hardest fish to get to bite!
