Guest
Go for it, you only need a license for 16 and older in MN. http://files.dnr.state.mn.us/rlp/regulations/fishing/fishing.pdf

Dano2
thanks guys, and thanks wally, but i have a couple pretty good spots for gills, cant wait to see the look on his face, just hope he doesn't through the rod in the water , heh, heh.as far as him keeping a couple, what are the rules on that? Or is it just catch n release for that age? which is fine, but if I know my little boy well enough, he will raise heck with me on that first one he catches if I try to throw it back, then again I guess I have my own limit as well, so that was kind of a stupid question, heh! Bobb-o
As far as limits go, i am pretty sure each child can keep their own limit.
Blackstarluver
Take your boy with you, then as long as you have equipment for him your limits double on all species.God lyk!JC
Chris Haley
Resident children under 16 can keep a limit. Non-reseident children under 16 can fish but not keep a limit.
New Yankee
Chris, non resident children under 16 can catch and keep a limit if the parent has purchased a "Family License". That was the bigest reason I bought one. Please correct me if I'm wrong - hopefully before it's too late, LOL!
Aquaman01
Dano2 - Aquaman's the name, and fishing with kids is my game (like I have much of a choice!) and if you are interested in West Metro shore spots, I'll throw up a post on "Shore Fishing". Both my 2 & 4 year old fish with me, and my 2-year old battled an 18" bowfin the other evening - her 1st fish on the new Scooby Doo (her other one got broken by some carp). Don't have to worry about her horsing fish too fast - she's so enthralled with the sensation that she reels reeeaaaallllyyyyy slowly and kind of savors it. Cool.------------------Aquaman<')}}}}}><{Peace and Fishes

Chris Haley
New YankeeI stand corrected. A youth can possess a limit under the family license, or if they purchased their own.
wooly1
I pitched those Snoopy and Scooby Do poles. Most are junk and a nightmare. I gave my kids ice fishing poles with small spinning reels on them and couldn't have been happier. Eliminated 90% of the reels tangles and they learned how to cast a lot faster. (Not to mention updating my previously sorry collection of ice fishing rods).Try it you'll like it, so will the kids.Just my two cents worth.
