Remote Cabin Rentals

Wasn't really sure where to post this, if anyone has a better idea of which forum it should be in, let me know and i'll re-post it.

The Mrs. and I are looking to go on a weekend getaway. We usually go camping, but this time we are bringing our puppy and we're thinking it would be kinda nice to find a cabin so we dont have to bother with the tent. Anyone know of some nice small resorts that have some fairly isolated cabins on a smaller lake? Kinda looking to get the camping feel, just without the tent. I did some searching in the archives and JBMasterAngler mentioned Loon Lake Lodge, that place looked awesome, but they are booked for our weekend. If you have heard of that, something similar to that would be ideal.

Thanks

this is going to be a strech. this is out of the way and rustic. and cheap. crooked lake resort in the finland lsabella area. when i was there they had no running water[pump outside] and they turned the electricity off at 10 pm. and turned it back on in the morning. they did have a bar resturant on the same property. the cabins were ok with the four guys we had. the good part is the fishing there with walleys, muskie, and smallies on that lake. with many other lakes near with trout, muskie, walley and bass. we stayed there maby 10 years ago. so things could have changed. but the wilderness and fishing hasn''t. there are campgrounds nearby in case you change your mind. good luck.

for future reference. we tent 100% of the time and have been doing it for years. next year we are going to rent the guest house on bearhead st park. we have an anual family camping trip and thats our plan. they also have camper cabins. they do allow pets. check it out on the state parks site and they show inside and outside the cabins. if you do decide on something like this reserve one this fall for next summer. they are very popular. the park is quiet, great fishing, bike and hicking trails, excelent showers, and nature watching. just thought of it. we go there every year. good luck.
