Snow plowing/plows weight vs. truck

Cast A Way

Question

Thinking about putting a Boss 7 1/2' straight blade plow on my 2003 Dodge 1/2T 4x4 quad short box Hemi. I have checked around and most regular plows in this area run around 680#. I wasn't impressed with the lighter duty plows so I'm thinking a Boss Super Duty 7 1/2 with smart hitch 2 @ 680#.

Any thoughts on weight vs. truck - problems like transmission. Never owned a plow before. I will be using this primarily for my driveway and on the lakes to get my wheelhouse out. Thanks.

You'll be fine.

I plowed with an 8' Boss straight blade on a 1/2 ton Dodge for 4 years commercially, sold it when the truck had 150k miles and the original tranny.

It'll help to put 200 lbs +/- in the box when you're using it, salt, sand, whatever.

Also, we put Timbrens in the front end, which will also help the front end.
