what is legal to shoot at the gun range

Recommended Posts

Im 17 i have my firearms saftey and bow saftey and will get my advanced hunter ed soon... my step brother has his firearms saftey and this will be his first real deer hunt with a shotgun. I plan on taking us to a gun range to teach him how to safley use load and fire the shotgun as well as i will be sighting in my 10/22 for small games... i plan to do this around late august or in september before small games opens. Im 17 my brothers 16, are we legal to go to any rifle range pay and shoot? or do we need someone 18 and older? yes i understand the laws of transporting a firearm. Im really excited to teach my bro how to properly shoot and handle a firearm that is not a .22 and needs more complex attention because of the more harder recoil.

my rifle range options are beaverbrook gun club and one in forest lake but the one in forest lake is a bit exspensive, 5-10 bucks to get in with one ticket stub that only lets you take aim at one target to shoot another dif yardage is another 2 bucks each time you shoot a dif target thats kinda alot to me but beaverbrook is only open to the public in october so im not sure were else to go thats near anoka county... any suggestions?

If you dont mind the drive the Sportsmans Club in Henderson is $35(?) a year for a family membership. There is a 70 yd pistol/rifle range, a 40 yd archery range with elevated stand, and if you know anybody with a key (hint) we have a portable trap thrower and a trap range. If you want to check it out first, get a hold of me and I will show you around and you can shoot if you want. But to answer your question, you parents would have to get the membership here, but you can come anytime with or without your parents.

I'm not sure if you're referring to Metro Gun club as the Forest Lake one, but its one to check out. Its reasonable priced. You'll have to call them about the rules, but I'm pretty sure you'll need someone who's 18 in order to shoot.

Only way to know is to call.

Flock32, I live in Eden Prairie and Henderson is not that far for me. I'd be interested in coming down if you don't mind. I have 2 daughters that I want to teach to shoot and its would be great to find somewhere that we could be members. My email is [email protected]

I saw you are in Blaine, there is also Bill's gun shop and range over in circle pines right off of 35wN and lake drive, they have a 50 yrd range at that place and I do think one person has to be 18, but they are okay with the range fee.

$20 alone, $30 for a shared lane.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
