That 150$ for out of state hunters is [PoorWordUsage] if Minnesota Charge me 200$ for one month of fishing I would tell them to suck my...toe. I think I got them figured out or atleast I did last weekend after 20 hours of fishing. No 50 yet. I'm sure September will be good bite. I'll send you a PM if you want on whats work for me. Hopefully I can help.

I think Bear55 nailed it with Cheech&chong reference. I heard the same but you never know with internet rumors. If it was a UND guy he would have his mug shot on the front page of the paper. Since we're bringing players screwing up what about Nate Hegemo or Tyler Hirsch.

I stuck a decent 48" last weekend. But that is my biggest this year.

Nice work Scott.

Solbes not sure when Duluth games go on sale but UND starts sept11. I wouldn't mind going to the UND UMD series in duluth Dec 30th. I think thats your teams arena grand opening.

On the NHL network they were doing a documentary on pond hockey tourament in St Paul. They were interveiwing all these former college and pro players that were playing in it. Anyways the team that took the championship had Tyler Hirsch on it. They never interveiw him in that documentary. I would have like hear what he's doing nowadays. Your right Bear, he did have mad skills.

I saw that same documentary, kind of a fun and interesting tournament, lots of former D1 guys play. Sometimes its more interesting to see the stacked teams that don't win the tourney.

Yeah it was pretty neat. The main team they focus on had Matt Henderson(former UND player). He was my favorite player when he played for the Sioux.

Sorry for getting off the subject again. I don't know what it is about you hockey fans that gets me to B_S so much. I always manage to get sidetrack on to something else on this forum. promise I won't do it again

Hirsch was a little nuts. Just one of those spoiled kids his hole life. He got a little bit in trouble with Lucia and likely didnt know what to do after not being favorite anymore. I think he was an over emotional kid from what I could remember too. I dont remmeber him hanging out with the team much either.

I think before he did the hole push the net over thing, he was late to practice or missed one or something. He crumbled like dominos after that. Maybe his GF dumped him.

I think I remember somewhere I heard that the coaches didn't put him in a certain powerplay or end of the game or something because he didn't go to the net hard enough so that was the whole him flying into the net tandrum. It look like more of a tantrum than anything else but man I never could fly at the net like that without flitching at the end. You have to be a little nutso to be able to do that.

Scott, I hope that wedding isn't interfering with your upland hunting.

Oh it is inter-fearing with just about everything I want to do. Its a good thing I already put 3 fishing weekend on the calendar in october. I used permanent marker, so there is no changing. Or at least I hope that is how it works. We have a duck pond and some CRP up there too, so I can shoot stuff in the am and fish the rest of the time.

By the way Jeff Andersen managed 2 over 50 on the bigger of the lakes in your area last weekend. Filming with Doug Stange.

The Gophers have recuited too many pretty boys. They turn into nothing but premadonns that never live up to the hype.

I'd say you are dead on with this comment, you have to have top end skill but if they aren't willing to work hard or at least go into the corner to fight for a puck its time to find guys who will.

One last note on Hirsch, I think Lucia gave him one more chance after the "net incident" and probably others but I think it only lasted 10 or 15 games his sr year. He was one of our better players back then but we use to have depth so it didn't hurt as bad.

You would think I would at least snag one by accident by now.

]They can smell the green on you.

haha. Just for fun if God gave me choice between 50" muskie or 2011 NCAA championship. I would take championship. I'm in no hurry of catching a trophy gives me something to shoot for. I did catch a nice 31 inch walleye earlier this year. That was cool.

Thanks Solbes. I didn't have a camera. I mine as well not count that one. Even if I did get a pic I can't for the life of me figure out how to post pictures.

How's Duluths arena coming? Whats the capacity gonna be?

It's always the same thing for me, no camera when I need it.

Here's some stats on the new arena from the DECC site:

Existing Arena New Arena

5,100 Hockey Seating Capacity 6,600

14’ Average Concourse Width 18’

0 Suites 15 suites, 1 party suite

10’ x 12’ Scoreboard Dimensions 15’ x 20’; with video display

85’ x 190’ Ice Sheet Size 85’ x 200’ (NHL size, LOVE IT!)

And some pics of current construction activities:

Looks like the best location in college hockey finally gets an arena to match (Okay, Kohl center off of State Street is pretty neat area too). The Ralph will always be my top arena though, quite impressive.

Are they removing any Sioux logos in the Ralph this year? What's the scoop there?

As far as I know the name change goes in effect next Apirl sometime. Since the arena doesn't belong to UND the logo doesn't have to be removed. The only hope for the name staying is having a vote at fort Totten down in South Dakota. Fromwhat I've heard is that res has way bigger problems to deal with. I don't think there will be an organize vote down there. This will be the fighting Sioux last year most likely.

Congrats Brooks. Welcome to the 50+ club!! And thanks for sealing the Siouxs fate as a first round looser this year.

Wait no camera, oh ya I have heard that one before. You cant expect us to take a Sioux fan at his word can you?

Water temps getting pretty high up there, or are they cooling off some. I am putting in 3.5 days at that cabin this weekend. Hopefully some success.

Thanks Scott

Surface water temps were low eighties on Saturday. I'm gonna take a break from musky fishing and chase some walleyes. I never took the fish out of the water(use a floating tape measure). I must of work on keeping the fish balance for half hour and stayed with it for another half. She swam away never came to the surface so I feel good about her chances. Its your turn to get a fifty Scott, good luck.

The hockey rink in Bemidji is looking good

    • Truly sorry to hear that duffman! I know that feeling.  Keep the good memories
    • Chamois passed away this weekend a couple days short of her 13th bday. What a great dog to hang out with here at home and on distant adventures. Gonna miss ya big time my little big girl.
    • Sounds pretty sweet, alright. I will check them out, thanks.
    • If you really want to treat your wife (and yourself) with a remote operated trolling motor, the Minn Kota Ulterra is about easy as it gets.  Auto stow and deploy is pretty awesome.  You just have to turn the motor on when you go out and that the last time you have to touch it.   24V 80lb.  60 inch shaft is probably the right length for your boat.  They ain’t cheap - about $3k - but neither one of you would have to leave your seat to use it all day.
    • Wanderer, thanks for your reply. I do intend for it to be 24 volt, with a thrust of 70-80. Spot lock is a must (my wife is looking forward to not being the anchor person any more).  With my old boat we did quite a lot of pulling shad raps and hot n tots, using the trolling motor. Unlikely that we will fish in whitecaps, did plenty of that when I was younger. I also need a wireless remote, not going back to a foot pedal. We do a fair amount of bobber fishing. I don't think I will bother with a depth finder on the trolling motor. I am leaning toward moving my Garmin depth finder from my old boat to the new one, just because I am so used to it and it works well for me. I am 70 years old and kinda set in my ways...
    • Dang, new content and now answers.   First, congrats on the new boat!   My recommendation is to get the most thrust you can in 24V, assuming a boat that size isn’t running 36V.  80 might be tops?  I’m partial to MinnKota.     How do you plan to use the trolling motor is an important question too.     All weather or just nice weather?   Casting a lot or bait dragging?   Bobber or panfish fishing?   Spot lock?  Networked with depth finders?  What brand of depth finders?
    • We have bought a new boat, which we will be picking up this spring. It is an Alumacraft Competitor 165 sport with a 90 horse Yamaha motor. I will be buying and installing a trolling motor,  wondering if I can get some recommendations on what pound thrust I will want for this boat?  Also, I will be selling my old boat, is there a good way to determine the value on an older boat ( mid-80's with a 75 horse 2-stroke  Mariner motor)  I will appreciate any help with these questions.
