Beetles eating up my garden!

I could get pictures if I have too, but someone knows what they are. They are small black beetles with bright neon green accents. They've eaten most of our roses and are spreading out to some of the other plants. There is a bunch of 'em!

What are they and what can I do to kill them?

Japanese beetles. http://www.aphis.usda.gov/lpa/pubs/pub_phjbeetle04.pdf

They guy at the store sold us Sevin spray and Japanese beetles are one of the first things indicated, but it hasn't done a very good job I think.

Looks like grub control is the primary way to solve the problem, but you can pick them or spray to get rid of the adults.

Sounds like Japanese beetles alright. Ran across this recent release from Jeff Hahn at the U the other day with some recs for control. Look out if they decide to tear into field crops the way they do in places like OH, IN, & parts of IL.
