NELS-BELLS
Can anyone give a breakdown of how thier league scores different species of fish. ex. 5lb northern is worth so many points and a 6oz. sunfish is worth so many, etc. My friends and I are getting together for a fishing weekend and thought it would be fun to score our catches like the leagues do and see which boat scores the most points. We all have live wells and do practice catch and release. Any info. would be appreciated.Nels

mdeiley
i belong to a league that has a very simple point system.1 sunfish (over 7")=10 points1 crappie (over 9")=10 pointsup to 6 Northern (over 20")=10 points eachup to 6 Bass (over 12" any species large, small, rock)=10 points eachup to 4 walleye (over 14")=20 points eachmuskie (over 40")=60 points each.also you get bonus points for catching multiple species of 4 or more. and there are trophy points for larger fish which double the point value.good luck fishing. Capt'nJosh
Just weigh them all together and go a point a pound. If a northern is worth the same as a crappie/bluegill you will have people sitting on panfish all day and miss out on the rest of the fun!Capt'n
mdeiley
the neat thing is you can only bring in 1 crappie, 1 sunfish, 6 pike, 4 walleye, and 6 bass per boat. keeps the panfish guys from missing out on all the other action.
Mark Christianson
This scoring system also promotes multi species talent versus people that only target a specific species. The down side to this scoring system, is that it causes quite a mess in the boat. Every rod is out and readily available for short notice species change."Watch out for my rod!"SNAP!
