replacing windows in steel siding

I am looking into replacing windows on a 70's home with steel siding. windows are wood double hung, jambs and sills are rotten so replacement vinyl windows are not an option. has anyone had success replacing windows in steel without having to re-side the whole house?

Yes, we are usually able to cut the flange on the old windows, in the space between the old frame and siding, Or you can usually collapse the frames. Email me and I can explain better and help you. My company does installs for Renewal by Andersen most days of the week, however we are also a window dealer and can install any window out there.

if it's a wood DH you probably have a wood brickmold on the outside.? do you? if not like above, if so pull the complete window out and if you are doing the work yourself you can put any window in that has a nail fin, then install a piece of wood over the fin between window edge and siding j chanell. then redo the jamb and casing inside. Window Pane, you guys are using the Z flash bends on your renewal full frames up there on arent you. Not saying this guy would need them or anything, just assuming you guys do it. Its nice not having to deal with nailing fins.

yepper, nail fin if he buys a vinyl to install himself and is taking out a wood window with a wood brickmold.

We just happened to do some fill and wrap on some double hungs in steel siding today. Kind of random as we havent had to do them in a awhile.
