Evinrude Tilt /Trim?

I've got a '91 Evinrude VRO 40hp, it's got "power assit" to help lift up and lower the motor. Well it's broke, I'm using a screw driver to release the pressure and raise or lower the motor right now. Not convient being as I need to be out of the boat for this to work. I'm wondering if theres any way to "upgrade" to a powered tilt trim system? There is what looks like hydraulic cylinder right now, a cable and handle were used to open it up and move the motor before. I'd really like to hit a button and have it go up and down, is there any type of "add on" that I can get or am I stuck just replacing the broken cable and connectors?

You can try any of the used parts facilities like Twin City Outboards or Tims Outboards for a used trim and tilt. You would have to remove everything you have and replace it. Or you could do a search for an aftermarket tilt system, Cabelas might even sell them.

I have virtually the same set-up. I checked at the dealership last year and the service manager kinda chuckled when I told him what I had and told me that the original unit was junk and that parts are virtually not available any more. He also suggested a used trim unit. Cabelas does sell an add on trim unit that I have heard a lot of good things about, but they are expensive-I checked last year and they were about $700.
