reinhard1 Posted July 10, 2010 Share Posted July 10, 2010 first of all you have to love sourkrout. two bags of sourkrout, usualy found in the meat dept. not cans. one pound of bacon. rinse the krout one time and put in a pot with two onions chopped up and bring to a simmer. while this is happening take the bacon and cut it fine and small. fry the bacon till it gets brown and crispy. after the krout simmerd for 20 min. drain the krout and put back in the pot. pour the hot bacon with the grease, yes with the grease, in the pot with the krout. mix well. prepare your brat in beer and onions till the brats turn grey. i should of told you to have the grill ready. put the brats on grill and finish them off with the grill marks. put them on a real brat bun not a hot dog bun and cover them with the krout and bacon mix. dont destroy the meat with ketchup or mustard. as is. enjoy. good luck.
