heyguy
Hi Everyone. Looking at heading to southern Douglas County in mid July to do some forest camping and fishing. I can maybe get my hands on a canoe, otherwise just be going from shore. Not fussy on what kind of fish I will be going for, it would just be nice to get enough for a fish fry for my buddies and I one of the nights. thanks for the help!! heyguy
just curious if anyone knows of some good spots?
Poacher's pariah
You gotta be mobile! Bring that canoe and you'll have any lake with a public access at your disposal. What species do you plan on targeting?
heyguy
looking at going after bluegill, crappie or northern. Any spots in mind?
Poacher's pariah
Just about any lake with an access will produce. Look for the edges of weedlines and fish near the bottom, 6' - 10' away from the weeds with small, tiny leeches or small, 1/8th-1/16th ounce jigs. I prefer to use more artificials than live bait because they last longer and are cheaper. Plus I'm not bothered by as many small 'gills. I still average about 10 hand sized gills per hour while targeting crappies. Low light seems to produce best, but maybe that's because the waterbikes haven't started tearing up the water. Jarrid Houston
Lyman has a nice park to fish off of. Same with minnusing, nebagemon has a fishing peer by the boat access. ULSC has a nice paRk at 2 locations. And if you really want some gill action hit the st croix flowage AKA Gordon dam. Any of these spots will work for pannies. Best bet is live bait and corks (bobbers). Good luck!
