As far as I know, it's one license per machine, so you'll have to have 2 upgrades.

If you upgrading from XP, I believe the only way to do it is a full reload, the upgrade will wipe out your data. Upgrading from Vista is just the normal upgrade process and will save your data unless you tell it to wipe it all and do a full reload.

Make sure you have lots of Ram.

The Cheapest I have found is 99.00 Per license. So for 198.00 you can upgrade both systems. It way worth it in my book. Vista SUCKS. But this is coming from a MAC person having to type on my wife's 7 while she enjoys my MAC.

Thanks,

First you need to ask yourself do I need to upgrade? For most people that are just surfing the net, Windows 7 isn't really going to change your computer experience all that much at this point. Beyond that...

1. You will need a license for both pc's.

2. Will the hardware of the pc's support 7?

a. Vista box should be good to go.

b. XP box may be questionable.

Run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor (do I search on google and you'll find it)

This will tell your if the upgrade is possible from a hardware stand point, but it doesn't guarantee it will run fast.

It is true that the XP box will need a complete reload so you'd want to save any important data first.

I'm not saying the following will hold true for your situation, but this is what I experienced this last winter.

A friend of mine had 2 computers (laptop and PC) both running windows XP professional. She must have kept some old software from Office 97 cause all she had on there was WORD 97 and Outlook express. She was looking for something inexpensive so we ordered 1 (one) box of Microsoft Office Professional 2002 and installed it on her laptop and registered it. We then tried to install it on her PC but it said it was already registreed. She called Microsift and explained the situation and microsoft said you can have the software on UP TO 2 PC's as long as you own both of them. Then they fixed it in their system and she was able to register it on her other computer as well using the same program license.

All I'm saying is that it doesn't hurt to call them up and ask if it is possible.
