muskieboy46
I am looking at getting a GPS/depthfinder for my dad. Here are two that were close to my price range.Eagle FishElite® 480 Sonar with External GPSI found it online for about 320 bucks. The reviews for this one seemed really good.I was also looking at theEAGLE FishElite 640C Fishfinder/GPS Chartplotter This has a color screen and was 399, but the reviews I have found claimed this model had some issues.Does anyone have any experience with either of these or have any recommendations? Thanks,Trevor
0 Pat K
The the color screen on the Eagle 640c is very difficult to see if you are wearing polorized sun glasses. If you are not looking directly at it at 90 degrees the screen fades.
0 muskieboy46
Thanks for the reply. Do you know if that is the same case for the gray scale model?
0 PerchJerker
If you are planning to use a map card in that gps you will definately want the color screen, you can see much more detail and get much more benefit out of the color screen than the mono when using a map card. The color is nice with the sonar too.

Yes it is a little tougher to see with polarized shades but that is mostly when the sun is directly overhead.
