I know this can't match the professional photos most of you post, but was fishing this weekend and this guy came in to about 20' of my boat. Closest I've ever been to one. The shot came out pretty good (I think) considering it was taken with a P&S.

Great job Don! I've had a number of loons hanging around the boat close enough to touch. It has even been so bad I have had a fear putting a line in the water for fear of catching a loon!
