So here is a good question for everyone has anyone ever been in an Atv Pull before with the actuall Sled? If so does anyone have any tips or tricks to doing well in pulls? The pull is Saturday July 18 At the Wilkin County Fair so if anyone else wants to pull come on up! They do have an Adult Beer Garden for afterwords too

In the 4x4 class, be sure to keep the front firmly planted on the ground. As you know, 4x4 is worthless if your front wheels on in the air.

As far as throttle application goes, I've heard more people say to pin it from the get-go. Others have said to ease into the throttle to allow the tires to get a better grab off the line. Everyone has their own preference.

This brings up another issue - tire selection. You'll want something that will hook up good. Tough to say which would be the best without knowing if it's on soft soil or more of a solid base once you dig in a couple inches.

Well Last year they did the Pull on a Gravel Road with a small scale sled like they have for truck and tractor Pulls and nobodys wheels ever came up just spun out when it got to the top so its a matter of keeping traction down but i do have 4x4 and i do have a front diff lock should i run in High Or Low run high with everything locked solid and try and keep momentum up or run in low and just try and plant the power? Last year a Can Am took the win but it was that vs all Polaris and a few Cats the Cats did the worst in the Pull

I pulled in one that had a gravel-y track and it was all tire spin. You'll run out of traction before you run out of power. Best bet is to tighten the chain, ease into the throttle and then pin it after everything gets moving a few feet. Go for high gear, lock'm in, and try to get some speed to get the sled moving so you have some momentum when the sled weight gets to the drawbar. More weight on the ATV the better if it's allowed. If not, get up on the fuel tank and put as much of your weight over the handlebars to get the front tires to grab. Airing the tires down can be a good trick too.

In the end it's all about having a good time so don't worry too much about it. Watch some of the other pullers that go before you to gauge their cadence and when they put on the power and how well they do.

If you are allowed to add weight make sure to put some weight on the front of the suzu to get your fronts to grip up. I would say to just lock it in 4 and peg it right away to get speed goin! Those polaris's are going to be tough to beat since they are generally a heavier machine!! What would really be nice for ya would be to have your clutch done by then. I wouldn't run in one with a stock clutch.

Yeah i would like to have my clutch done by then too but i dont know if i will have the chance to or not. So you think the Suzuki isnt going to do so hot because of the weight huh well they do have weights there and i can weigh it down till i run out of legal weight and try that but should i have the diff locked in too? or is that going to hurt axle shafts and the rest of the drivetrain?

Lock it in. If you do happen to get some traction and it starts bucking, get off the throttle right away. That's when things break.

If there is that much loose material on the track I doubt you'll have to worry about it.

So you have a Sled? I am friends with all the wrong people ha ha so how does it hook up is it chains or a ball hitch? thats the only thing i cant find on the rules and regualtions and well as far as a garden tractor pulls i have one but its currently torn all to pieces and soon will run about 45mph and the frame will be about 4in off the ground lots of work and stupid parts but it should be alot of fun when i get it all done

The pull went great! We didn't have to many wheelers though. I think 8 and 1 rzr. We had a 550 xp out pull an 800 can am in the light class, but the can am smoked everyone in the heavy class! It was good time. I have photos & video that I will try to get posted soon.

I find that hard to believe......how did the 550 popo out pull that can am??? Was it a stock machine? What brands were all represented at this pull? I might have to try and get to the dawson pull, that would be fun and i have a few friends from dawson that have wheelers!!
