Lowrance H2Oc Problem

MNUser

Question

My Lowrance H2Oc will not lock onto the satellites it sees. It will just blick on Ohama, NE and will not lock when it finds the satellites. You can still move through the various pages and screens. Have tried resetting it but no luck. Called Lowrance and it costs 180 to send it in and fix it. Anybody figure out how to fix this without getting Lowrance invovled?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Very sad deal here with the h20. I had those issues and called Lowrance repair center and they told me to send it in. They fixed it and I again had to send it back in either 3 or 4 more times.

They never charged me but when I called them I was pretty firm with them.

Overall the Lowrance CS has been pretty poor since Linda Colt left the company. Linda use to authorize the returns to the repair center.

I am assuming the unit is out of warranty.

I had another Lowrance unit and Lowrance wanted $325.00 to reapire it. I found a dealer who had a new download for it and after that, it worked great. Oh, by the way, no charge.

Seems they have had some units in the past few years that have been nothing short of junk.

I do not see Lowrance as a CS friendly company any longer.

Call Lowrance. I am sure they will know what the issue is.

I think from what appears to be a huge issue, Lowrance should place a warning sticker on there units that they will not function correctly for very long.

One has to hope they break before the warranty is over and not 1 week later.

I know my next handheld will not be a Lowrance product.

Tried everything I could short of taking it apart. Nothing worked and the unit will not lock. It sees the satellites but for whatever reason will not lock on them and get your position. I let it sit out for 6 hours and it was still blinking when I came back.

The unit belongs to a buddy. He is not going to send it in and get it repaired since it is out or warranty. He is going to buy a Garmin to replace it. He says he will never buy another Lowrance product. Kinda sad when he is the market for his first boat and will be looking for electronics for it. I can guess he will not be spending a dime with Lowrance.

Lowrance has gone down the tubes when it comes to their products. Kinda sad. I love the unit on my boat but when it comes time to replace I will be shopping around too based on the customer service alone.

I hope somebody at Lowrance reads this stuff.

I experienced the same problem. CS wanted $169 to repair. When asked if this has been a reoccurring problem they claimed ignorance. In my opinion Lowrance products should be avoided. I now have a Garmin Oregon 450. I transferred my waypoints using EZGPS.

Make sure your settings do not require waas. It will almost never pickup signal. I have the original 12 chanel h20c and a 332c. Never one problem ever. Garmin does make nice units at double the money. Good luck
