how old?

so i've been doing most of my catfishing this year on a tiny river out in the boonies. It's one of those rivers where the average person would drive by and never think there's fish in it. the majority of channels in this system are about the size of my bullheads i use for flats, and a fairly good population of 1 to 2 pound fish (if you know where to find them).

while fishing at the head of a fast flowing riffle i hooked into a big fish, with all the long runs it was making i figured it was just another carp. pulled it into shore and my girlfriend yells holy S***. i weighed it and the scale read 10.53 pounds! I figured that was the biggest catfish swimming in the river. If you could imagine a 200pound 6 year old kid...thats what the fish looked like.

1 week after i caught that fish i popped another monster during walleye opener on 6lb mono. i didn't bring a scale along but I compared it to my rod and it was a full 6 inches longer that the 10lb fish i caught and looked like a 300 pound 6 yearold......this is probably a once in a life time situation to catch that big of fish in a river that small. Can't imagine how old they must of been.....any guesses?

Do you have any pictures? So many factors go into fish aging....

from location, forage, genetics, year round water temps.

my girlfriend took a pic with her phone of the 10 pound fish,and was fishing by myself with a dead phone when i caught the other one.....ill try to get it off and post it
