Finding bait?

Ive called a dozen places looking for Redtail chubs and no luck!?!? Anyone know of a place within 100 miles west of the cities where a guy can find/buy redtails?

Have you tried Vados in Fridley?? The RedTails are usually in good supply in the Brainerd area..goggle and try that!

I thought red tails aren't available this early in the year. Am I wrong about that?

There are a few shops in the area that have them. I saw on the Brainerd forum that Sportland bait up in nisswa has a good supply.

If you want to save some cash find some small quicker moving streams and catch them. I use small ice jigs and a piece of leech or crawler. On a good stream you can catch a couple dozen in less than a hour, plus you get river shiners, creek chubs and some other stuff that is real good bait too. The right stream usually looks like trout/smallmouth water but is usually a little warmer. One note when you do find a good one keep quiet, because bait trappers can wipe out the population in no time and they dont forget about these places for a while.
