networking hds units

WaveWacker

Question

So, the plan is to potentially get rid of the LCX110c and have a hds10 unit in the back of the boat and a hds7 unit in the front. I was just wondering what would be done to network these together.

Power/transducer to the 10, power to the 7 and then a network cable (yellow connectors) between the 10 and 7? When/if a guy goes witht the structure scan transducer, would that then just plug into the 10 and the 7 automatically receive the same information?

Thanks for any help.

If you were just going to network the two together for sonar data sharing, one yellow cable (ethernet) between the two would suffice. If however, the LSS is introduced into the system, then the Lowrance ethernet hub would be needed as well since the LSS ties to the sonar units via an ethernet cable. No way to tie all three together w/o that hub.

What you have described above will work for the -10 and -7 as long as there's no StructureScan in there.

When you add the StructureScan you'll get a side-scan transducer, a module box (ie. the network hub), and another ethernet cable ---- those parts are all included with the StructureScan when you buy it. The new transducer connects to the module, and the module connects to the -10 and the -7 with the ethernet cables.

You will need to power the module (it comes with power cable). There's a yellow wire in the power cable for the module, which should be connected to the yellow wire in the power cable for your hds-10 ---- that will turn the StructureScan on when your -10 is on, and off when your -10 is off.

Thanks guys. I have a way better concept of it now. So to recap...

Without SS the way I described will work fine.

With SS. Side-scan tranducer to module/network box and then out of box to both the 10 and 7 with seperate cables. Power is needed to the box but that will come from the 10 unit.

Question...In this application, where does the regular transducer go? Still into the 10? This is assuming that one would may still want the ability to view the regular sonar data at times.
